What No Other Tool Does.
Commercial handheld scanners and locked dealer software hide their algorithms and refuse low-level access. PeeweeSys unlocks deep forensic dumps, factory calibration tables, and cluster modifications straight over OBD.
Guided Pre-Purchase Inspection (PPI)
Step-by-step diagnostic test plans and live health logging.
Standard scanners passively read fault codes. PeeweeSys guides you through an active diagnostic inspection plan: checking module states, guiding you through cold and hot engine startup routines, logging real-time telemetry, and compiling an authoritative PDF health dossier for prospective buyers and owners.
- ✓ Guided interactive workflows: ignition on, engine crank, warm-up logging, actuator testing
- ✓ Automatic multi-module consistency check (DME hours, Kombi mileage, transmission run-time)
- ✓ Generates an immutable inspection dossier with freeze frames and live sensor graphs
Coolant Gauge Linearization
Eliminate the factory 80°C–105°C dummy flat-spot buffer.
From the factory, Porsche programmed the 986 and 996 coolant gauge needle to stay dead-center at 80°C (180°F) whether your actual engine coolant is 80°C, 95°C, or 105°C to avoid customer service inquiries. A true enthusiast wants to know their real temperature without artificial dampening. PeeweeSys linearizes the cluster interpolation table in EEPROM so the needle reflects reality.
- ✓ Removes factory artificial dampening so your needle tells the truth
- ✓ Inspect the exact 4-point temperature-to-impulse calibration table in cluster memory
- ✓ Calculates the linearized curve so you actually see your engine warming up and cooling down
Speedometer Recalibration
Fix 4–7% factory over-read and compensate for aftermarket wheels.
Nearly all modern classic Porsche instrument clusters intentionally over-read speed by 4 to 8 km/h at highway speeds. True enthusiasts want GPS-calibrated precision. PeeweeSys extracts and adjusts the speedometer impulse factor `K-Zahl` stored in the cluster EEPROM, letting you dial in true vehicle speed or compensate for custom tire diameters.
- ✓ Direct impulse coefficient calculation for GPS accuracy
- ✓ Compensates for aftermarket wheel diameters and tire aspect ratios
- ✓ Pre-verified against Porsche factory calibration guidelines
Full ECU ROM & EEPROM Dumps Over OBD
Direct memory extraction without desoldering or opening the ECU.
Standard diagnostic tools restrict you to basic OBD-II codes. PeeweeSys unlocks full memory-read service 0x23 to stream raw flash and EEPROM data over the standard 16-pin OBD port. Verified on Bosch ME7.2 DME and Siemens / VDO Kombi instrument clusters (2048-byte 93C86 dumps).
- ✓ Exact byte-for-byte binary dump of cluster calibration & DME maps
- ✓ Safely verified with non-destructive, read-only memory boundary checks
- ✓ Instant offline backup before any instrument cluster modification
Multi-Module Tamper Detection
Cross-reference independent odometer & operating registers.
Unscrupulous sellers can adjust the digits on the instrument cluster, but rarely know how to falsify the independent run-time registers stored in the DME, ABS unit, or Tiptronic transmission. Integrated into our PPI workflow, PeeweeSys pulls all registers simultaneously into one tamper-audit view.
- ✓ Simultaneous reading of DME hours, Kombi odometer, and transmission operating time
- ✓ Highlights statistical discrepancies (e.g. suspiciously low average speed under 20 km/h)
- ✓ Zero subscription lock-in — scan any car before you buy
Pre-Clear Snapshot Reports
Never lose critical diagnostic freeze frame data again.
Generic scan tools erase fault codes blindly with a single press, destroying freeze frame conditions (engine RPM, engine temp, load) needed to pinpoint intermittent misfires. PeeweeSys enforces a non-destructive snapshot workflow with structured export before clearing.
- ✓ Captures all DTCs, freeze frames, and module versions into a permanent HTML/PDF dossier
- ✓ Strict car-tested whitelist prevents sending unverified clear commands to sensitive ECUs
- ✓ Automatic post-clear re-scan confirms whether faults are static or transient

Supported Cables & Hardware Guide
No proprietary $800 boxes. PeeweeSys talks directly to your Porsche using inexpensive, standard FTDI USB-to-OBD cables or professional J2534 PassThru adapters.
Blue VAG KKL 409.1 (FTDI FT232RL/RQ)
Recommended for 986 & 996
The gold standard for K-line Porsche diagnostics. Inexpensive, rock-solid, and easily modified for dual-K-line access.
- • Ensure the listing explicitly specifies genuine FTDI (FT232RL or FT232RQ), NOT cheap CH340 or Prolific clone chips.
- • Search terms: 'VAG KKL 409.1 FTDI FT232RL USB OBD2'.
- • Set USB serial COM port Latency Timer to 1ms (or let peeweesys-helper auto-configure it).
Tactrix OpenPort 2.0 (J2534)
Recommended for 987, 997 & CAN Work
Professional-grade J2534 PassThru hardware supporting high-speed ISO 15765 CAN Bus, ISO 9141, and software pin routing.
- • Tactrix OpenPort natively switches multiplexed pins in software, eliminating physical switch mods.
- • Ideal for CAN probing, 987/997 ECU diagnostics, and UDS multi-frame ISO-TP messaging.
- • High reliability and clean hardware timing.
OBDLink EX / SX USB
Alternative CAN / High-Speed Interface
Fast STN-chip based USB adapter supporting full CAN bus messaging and high baud rates up to 2Mbps without packet loss.
- • Select the OBDLink EX (USB cable version engineered for FORScan/high data throughput) or SX.
- • Direct FTDI-compatible virtual serial port with native buffer management.
The $1 Dual-K-Line Toggle Switch Mod
In early Porsches (986 Boxster and 996 911), Porsche chose not to put all ECUs on a single shared diagnostic bus:
- Pin 7: DME Engine Computer, Kombi Instrument Cluster, Tiptronic Transmission.
- Pin 3: ABS / PSM, Airbag, Alarm / Immobilizer, Convertible Soft Top, Climate Control.
Standard blue VAG KKL cables connect the FTDI chip only to Pin 7. By opening the blue transparent casing and adding a small SPDT micro slide switch between Pin 7 and Pin 3 (or linking them), you give your cable 100% full-car access for less than the cost of a coffee.

- Remove security-access material from shared repo all
REVERSED by owner 2026-10-15: security material belongs in the private repo (AGENTS.md rule 7). The 94 files removed in a685dda were restored from git history.
- Durametric 2007 FTDI package (oem18) re-copies the HVCI-blocked ftdibus.sys on every reinstall, breaking both FTDI cables (Code 39) all
2026-10-20: root cause from setupapi.dev.log (field_logs/2026-10-20_helper_e2e_session.md section 8). Mitigation done: drivers/ftdi_guard (SYSTEM task at boot + Kernel-PnP 219 restores the 2.12.36 binary and restarts devices, never reinstalls), installed on the field laptop. Root fix open: bind 0403:CE00 to the modern signed FTDI package (Device Manager have-disk, non-compatible driver) and delete oem18.inf/oem30.inf; the helper driver doctor should offer the guard. Also: installer should tick Start with Windows by default (helper did not start after reboot).
